Accessibility
The directory is built to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, and on a small screen. This page states what has been done and where the known gaps are.
What the directory aims for
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA are used as the working reference for design and development decisions. This is a statement of intent and ongoing practice, not a certification or an audit result by an outside body.
What is built in
- Semantic headings with one main heading per page, so structure can be navigated
- Keyboard operation for navigation, search, filters and dialogs, with visible focus
- Landmarks and labelled navigation regions, including the header and footer menus
- Touch targets sized for one-handed mobile use
- Text alternatives for images, and text rather than images for important information
- Error and empty states written in plain language instead of technical messages
Known limitations
Some content comes from businesses and third-party sources. Owner-uploaded photography may carry a short or generic description until it is reviewed, and links to external websites and review platforms lead to pages this directory does not control or test.
Reporting a barrier
If something on this site cannot be used, email support@therestorationdirectory.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. Reports are treated the same way as a correction: investigated, then fixed or explained.
